When the senior prank included painting "Seniors 2K17" on the side of Spring Valley High School, upset neighbors called it vandalism.
Students have their own take on the incident.
"The graffiti is alright," says senior Gretchen Rosier. "It's just that they egged the school. They threw toilet paper."
Rosier says the school's response, which involved calling the local police, was overkill.
"I got my locker checked and everything yesterday, which I think is a violation of my privacy," she says. Police also checked students' bags.
A local power washing company says cleaning up the graffiti costs about $1,000.
