Suspect pleads not guilty in halfway house murder

The suspect in the murder of a halfway house manager in Newburgh pleaded not guilty in court.
Accused killer Wilfredo Mercado kept his head down inside Newburgh City Court Thursday when faced with charges in the death of Robert Munson.
Police say Munson, 61, was killed while working as a Youth Programs Advocate inside a halfway house on 44 Grand St. Munson worked overnights for the Youth Advocate Program - the group which operates the shelter.
Prosecutors say that because of five prior felony convictions, Mercado is not eligible for bail.
