Students say they were shocked to learn that an accused heroin dealer in Westchester County was using the White Plains Public Library to move his product. 

Willie James Edwards was one of 18 people arrested Thursday for peddling more than $1 million worth of heroin in the county. 

"It's shocking to think that a library is becoming a basic drug den," said high school student Jasmine Cabrera. 

White Plains Police Commissioner David Chong says with social media, the days of back alley drug deals are over.

"When you talk about the library, it's like any other public space. It's where the dealer feels the customer feels that they are safe when they make the deal," says Chong. 

Investigators say the White Plains Public Library was a convenient and safe public safe for Edwards to conduct his drug deals. He lives less than two blocks away from the library at an apartment complex on South Lexington Avenue.

Investigators could not say where in the library or for how long Edwards had been using it to conduct his alleged drug deals.
