People across the Hudson Valley are talking about the sweeping changes to the nation's health care system after the House of Representatives voted to overhaul the Affordable Care Act.

Democrats like Hudson Valley Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney are denouncing the bill, citing the millions of Americans who would lose health care and cuts to veteran programs and skyrocketing insurance bills for older Americans.

However, Republicans believe this will bring premiums down and bring insurers back into the market.

The reaction around the Hudson Valley has been mixed today. “They'll probably lose coverage; my dad has pre-existing conditions, my mother has pre-existing conditions; my sister needs health care [because] she doesn't have it through her employer ... It's a sad state of affairs," says Mario Salinas, of Yonkers.

Some people have taken to Facebook to praise the vote. "I don't know any working person that can afford their Obamacare and their deductible and prescriptions. I guess it's great if you don't work," says Christine D.
