Clarkstown worker helps clear sidewalks for kids
Things are finally getting back to normal in Clarkstown after the winter storm that buried the streets and sidewalks with snow.
Stephen Kardian has been working for the town for the past nine years, but cleared sidewalks for the first time after Tuesday's storm.
Kardian says he doesn't mind the hard work because he knows it's important in order to keep kids safe. "Right now the most important is the sidewalks around all the schools, so all the kids can walk safely away from the street. I've had a few people say thank you for doing the sidewalks."
Kardian says the trick is knowing where the sidewalk is underneath all the snow and the rest is pretty easy. "As long as the machine is up and running and nothing gets jammed inside like rocks, boulders, blacktop, all kinds of stuff it's fine, it runs smoothly."
