Construction of Yonkers high rise begins after demolition of eyesore

Just days after the Yonkers City Council voted to demolish an eyesore at 705 Bronx River Road, the machinery is in place to turn it into a luxury apartment high-rise.

The nine-story luxury apartment building in the heart of Yonkers will boast 160 apartments.

Some community residents have expressed concerns over parking and a new traffic pattern at the intersection of Bronx River Road, Midland Avenue and Broad Street.

The developer of the project tells News 12 that he is taking those concerns to heart and is working with the city to develop a plan that's good for everyone.

There is no word when the building will open, but construction is set to begin in the spring of 2018.
