Report: Dead dolphin had lesions on kidneys

A preliminary report says that the dolphin found dead in the Hutchinson River in Mount Vernon was sick.

The report from the Marine Conservation Society shows the dolphin was a mature female with lesions on her kidneys. They also say the animal had not eaten for some time.

Experts say it is likely the marine mammal traveled upstream from the Long Island Sound and died.

The exact cause of death could take months to be released.

The death has raised questions about water pollution in the river.
