3 teens arrested in riot at Children's Village

Three teenagers from the Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry are behind bars for allegedly helping to set off a riot at the facility Wednesday night.

Police say they got calls about a riot around 7:15 p.m. following a basketball game between the Children's Village and the Pleasantville Cottage School.

They say two players got into a fight at the end of the game. The fight escalated when spectators got involved, and it eventually spilled out of the gymnasium. While there were no injuries, there was major damage inside a rec center on campus and also to a bus outside.

Officials says officers arrested three 16-year-old residents of Children's Village. The three teens spent the night at the Westchester County Jail. They were charged as adults for felony criminal mischief.

The teens are due back in court next week.

Police say they expect to make more arrests in the coming days.
