Hospital volunteer celebrates 100th birthday
A volunteer at White Plains Hospital recently celebrated her 100th birthday.
Celeste Vazzana has been a volunteer in the hospital's gift shop for the past 28 years, helping customers pick the right bracelet or necklace. She also gives advice to patients.
She says she has a special way of selling that keeps her customers coming back to buy from her.
"I'll tell you my secret. If somebody likes two articles and one is more expensive than the other, but the cheaper one looks better, I tell them the truth and that's why they come to me," she says.
Vazzana, who turned 100 last month, takes a cab from her Scarsdale home to come and work a full day helping the customers. She says she has never called out a day, unless it is raining or snowing.
