Heavy rain could cause flooding

Heavy downpours could cause flooding across the Hudson Valley today.

News 12 Meteorologist Brysen Van Eck says that showers should be scattered and light until this afternoon where the rain could be heavy at times.

Van Eck says one to two inches of rain could cause rivers and creeks to overflow and ponding to occur on roadways. The flooding is expected to cause partial lane closures and major backups on numerous parkways such as the Taconic, Saw Mill River and Bronx River.

The high temperature will be 49 degrees today.

Van Eck says Friday will have scattered showers, but the weekend is shaping up to be beautiful. He expects temperatures to reach the mid-60s on Saturday and 70 on Sunday.
