Eastchester mourns beloved baseball coach
Eastchester is mourning a beloved baseball coach who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.
Hundreds gathered at the Westchester Funeral Home in Tuckahoe on Monday to say goodbye to Dom Cecere.
The Eastchester High School baseball coach holds the state record with 737 career wins since he took on the post in 1964.
His friends say he was mentor to the students he worked with through the years. "The kids, they all look up to him, they really did. He helped a lot of the kids and he was just an inspiration to everyone," says Claire Piro.
Cecere also played baseball in college at NYU and a year as a rookie for the Yankees.
Cecere was 75.
