Peekskill superintendent's resignation shocks community
Parents came out in droves Tuesday night to urge members of the Peekskill School Board to rescind the resignation of Dr. David Fine.
The superintendent oversaw almost 3,000 students district-wide. He submitted his letter of resignation last Thursday, sending shockwaves throughout the community.
"Everyone in the community is upset, some people were crying, they're distraught," says parent Bethany Potillo. "He's the best thing that happened to the district."
School board members say Fine's letter was submitted voluntarily on the district's website and stated in part, "I must reassess my priorities and make a change so I can provide some needed focus on my personal life and family."
The board appointed Dr. Lorenzo Licopoli to fill Fine's position until a permanent replacement is found.
