County executive's plan to sue governor over Indian Point hits snag

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino's plan to sue Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state for shutting down Indian Point has already hit a snag.

Astorino needs the county board to sign off on the lawsuit, and the chairman says the county executive doesn't have the votes.

"We're not supporting it because it's a waste of money. We're not supporting it because even if you succeed in getting this environmental study, all you've done is waste years and you are no closer to bringing transitional aid or permanent aid to the poor people of the Hendrick Hudson School District," says Michael Kaplowitz, County Legislature chairman.

Astorino announced his plans for the lawsuit on Wednesday. He's demanding an environmental impact statement and answers about the millions in revenue the county stands to lose with the 2020 closure.

Astorino calls the board's decision political because they haven't seen the lawsuit yet
