Vigil held for teen who vanished 22 years ago

Carmel residents held a candlelight vigil Sunday to honor a 17-year-old girl who was last seen exactly 22 years ago.

The community members tell News 12 they have never given up on finding out what happened to Robin Murphy.

Murphy was last seen the evening of April 9, 1995 in the ShopRite Plaza on Route 52.

Her body was never found, but her wallet and keys were later discovered in the woods behind the stores.

Police believe she was speaking with a man by the name of Howard Gombert shortly before her disappearance.

Gombert is currently serving time in Connecticut state prison for the sexual assault of a minor.

He's never been charged in relation in this case and denies any involvement.

A $6,000 reward is being offered for information that could lead to finally solving this case and bringing some closure to the Murphy family.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Carmel Police Department.
