Police: Man fires gun at relative in Yonkers, charges expected

A domestic dispute between a woman and a male relative outside a Yonkers apartment building led to the man firing a gun in her direction around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night, officials say.

Police say the bullet did not hit the 26-year-old woman, but she did suffer some minor abrasions to her lower leg possibly after fleeing the scene on Hamilton Avenue.

She was taken to the hospital while police interviewed witnesses. They say the victim is cooperating and criminal charges are expected.

The reports of gunfire come after a violent week in Yonkers. A man was stabbed in a building on Riverdale Avenue, and several people were injured when an altercation broke out in front of a gentlemen's club in the city.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Yonkers police at 914-377-7900.
