Movie theater reopens after fatal stabbing of employee

Moviegoers returned to the seats of a Yonkers cinema for the first time since an employee was fatally stabbed early Saturday morning.

As News 12 reported, 19-year-old Daij Thomas was stabbed to death in the lobby of the Showcase Cinema de Lux Theater at the Ridge Hill shopping center.

Thomas had just started working at the cinema on Wednesday.

Police say a 20-year-old black man stabbed Thomas in the chest and then fled the scene.

Thomas, who was from Yonkers, leaves behind a little boy, who will turn 2 years old later this month.

News 12 has been told that this is the fifth stabbing in the last week in Yonkers.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Yonkers police.
