Best of Brooklyn: Gravesend students help sick children
Students at one school in Gravesend have teamed up with a nonprofit organization to help bring hope to children who are sick.
Twenty-six students with disabilities at P.S. 721 are working with the nonprofit organization Project Sunshine to make craft kits in their classrooms for pediatric patients. The kids enjoy the projects and are proud to be helping others.
"In addition to our kids being able to help other children in need, our students are also getting the vocational and communication skills that they need," says teacher Renne Rizzo.
On Friday, the students were treated to creating projects for themselves as a way to thank them for all they are doing.
Teachers say they've lost count of how many kits the students have made.
