Power plant operators, like those at Buchanan's Indian Point, can't be expected to prevent airplane attacks, according to a government commission.
The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) officially announced Monday a revision to its security policy, which has been in place since the September 11th attacks. The NRC said the military and Federal Aviation Administration are responsible for preventing attacks at the nation's nuclear sites, while power plant operators are responsible for preventing radioactive fallout during such attacks.
The regulations will take effect in 30 days. The NRC is also considering other updates to its security plans.
