Residents escape as fire rips through Pelham mansion
Another fire consumed a home in Westchester, this time almost destroying a mansion in Pelham.
Firefighters say the alarm came in at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and the fire quickly began to burn the Carden?s home on Cliff Avenue. The homeowners and their three children escaped unharmed as firefighters from six different departments battled to get the flames under control. At one point, firefighters evacuated neighbors? homes for fear the fire would spread.
The basic structure of the house remained, but it is heavily damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation. It was the third large house fire in Westchester in as many days.
