Police say a Lake Peekskill man killed his wife and daughter before taking his own life Monday.

According to police, Steven Lessard strangled his 48-year-old wife Kathy and 14-year-old daughter Linda to death late Sunday night or early Monday morning. Police discovered the bodies in the family's 18 Maple Road home around noon Monday, after concerned relatives contacted the authorities. Investigators say stress from personal and professional problems apparently caused Lessard to snap. They say there is also evidence he previously received psychological counseling.

Lessard worked for Entergy, which owns the Indian Point nuclear power plant. Autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday.
