Tappan Zee project confusion prompts plea to governor

County executives on both sides of the Hudson River say want Governor Eliot Spitzer (D-NY) to step in and clear up confusion regarding the Tappan Zee Bridge project.
Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef and Westchester County Executive Andy Spano say they had no idea about a press briefing last week where preliminary bridge designs were shown to the media. That prompted the two to write a letter to Spitzer asking for help overseeing the project. The letter says, "the process now in place is confusing, unresponsive and in several ways unreliable.?
Currently, there are six options for replacing the aging bridge. The letter alleges a lack of imagination in those options. Vanderhoef says if they have input from the governor's office, the priority of the project will be higher and communication will improve.
