Rushing water covers Bronx River Parkway in Yonkers
Flooded streets are wreaking havoc across Westchester Friday, but one of the worst situations was on the Bronx River Parkway on the Yonkers-Mount Vernon border.
Officials say the water was 2-feet deep in some spots on the parkway. The flood waters created a commuter nightmare for drivers. Many cars stalled and were left stranded on the parkway. Drivers were forced to exit at Oak Street on the Bronx River Parkway until the waters recede.
The torrential rains also closed down parts of the Saw Mill River Parkway. Crews were trying to clear storm drains to give the waters some place to go. Forecasters say some of the worst flooding occurs hours after the rain ends.
