Girls use smarts, lead Peekskill police to suspected stalker
Police in Peekskill arrested a Dutchess County man they say stalked three young girls over a three-week period.
According to police, 49-year-old Edward Kovacs approached the girls, ages 11, 13 and 16, at the same intersection. Police say Kovacs made sexually suggestive comments. The girls eventually got Kovacs? license plate number, which their parents reported to police. Officers then arrested Kovacs.
Police say Kovacs traveled through Peekskill to a construction job site. He is charged with stalking and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say Kovacs had a handgun when he was arrested, but it was registered and legal.
