Sources: Yonkers teen killed over mistaken gang affiliation
Police arrested a reputed Bloods gang member for the October murder of a Yonkers teen outside a KFC.
Twenty-three-year-old Edwin Montalvo, aka Pito, is charged with second-degree murder. According to police, 19-year-old Charles Taylor was coming out of the KFC restaurant on Nepperhan Avenue with his girlfriend when he was confronted by four men. Police say Montalvo fatally shot Taylor in the chest.
Sources told News 12 Westchester the shooting may have been motivated by a mistaken idea that Taylor was a member of the Crips, a rival gang. Taylor?s family members say they are elated at the news of an arrest in his murder. Taylor left behind a young son and an unfinished arts degree.
