Yonkers cabbies get new emergency number

There is a new effort underway to keep cab drivers safe while they work in Yonkers.

Stickers with the Yonkers Police Department's phone number were handed out Tuesday to cabbies. Yonkers cab drivers are urged to call the department directly in case of an emergency. Cops say calling 911 puts cabbies in contact with state police instead.

Police also handed out tips to help keep cab drivers safe from violence.
