For WC Bombers fans, home opener is home run

Yankees fans from Westchester and beyond packed the house that Ruth built for the team's home opener Monday.

Many of the 50,000 fans who filed into the old Yankee Stadium took extreme measures to attend the game. Some said they called out sick or used vacation days. A pair of young but loyal boys came all the way from their Virginia town, which has a population smaller than the stadium's capacity. Older fans said Monday's game was another way to add to a decade's worth of memories.

The Bronx Bombers beat Tampa Bay 9-5. Fans say they're 100 percent confident the Yankees will make it to the World Series this season.
