Arrest made in beating death of Lake Peekskill man

State Police have arrested a transient in the death of a Lake Peekskill man. Police say Robert Gallo, 52, frequently visited 86-year-old Richard McKeon, who would give the transient free meals. The World War II veteran was found beaten to death in his kitchen Monday. McKeon's neighbors on Fordal Place said they called police when they noticed mail and newspapers piling up.
Neighbors said McKeon was a nice guy who liked to talk about his time in the service.
Gallo is charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bail at the Westchester County Jail. He is due in court Thursday.
