Immigrant's death brings up Mt. Kisco cold cases
Police in Bedford are investigating if the violent death of a Guatemalan man who was found on a deserted road outside of Mount Kisco is related to two other murders.
Rene Javier Perez was found lying unconscious, next to Byram Lake Road near the Bedford-North Castle Border Saturday. He later died at the Westchester Medical Center from what police describe as abdominal injuries. Police have turned up leads, but have no definite answers.
The Westchester County Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide. Police are not ready to connect it to two other murders in Mount Kisco, but have not ruled it out either. In December of 2003, the body of 33-year-old Santos Bojorguez was found near the downtown area. Police say he had been strangled. The following June, 42-year old Robert Martinez's body was found at a construction site on Lexington Avenue. According to police, he too had been strangled.
A surveillance camera is providing police with important information. Members of Mount Kisco's Hispanic community are worried there could be a connection to the other cases.
