Mt. Kisco cops become focus of Bedford murder probe

Police in Bedford confirmed Wednesday they are looking into whether Mount Kisco police officers played any role in the death of a drunken illegal immigrant. There are questions about where a Mount Kisco police officer was just before Rene Perez was found on the side of a deserted road last month. Mount Kisco Police Officer George Bubaris' patrol car has not been returned to the department after it was seized by Bedford police. According to police records, there are 44 minutes unaccounted for on the police log from Bubaris on the night Perez wound up dead.
Bubaris, along with two other officers, responded to a 911 call from Perez. Bedford police also responded to a call about Perez and removed him from a store in Bedford.
Bedford police are leading the investigation. An autopsy determined that Perez sustained a severe injury before he died. State police and the Westchester District Attorney?s office are also assisting in the investigation.
