ATM stop helps cops nab Mt. Vernon rape suspect

Police charged a New Rochelle security guard Thursday with the alleged rape of a New York City woman in May.

According to police, 30-year-old Tyrone Haywood forced the woman into his car at the corner of 4th Avenue and First Street in Mount Vernon. Police say he drove to a secluded area of Mount Vernon, beat the victim and then raped her. According to investigators, Haywood told the victim he was a police officer and even handcuffed her during the assault.

However, police say before attacking the 21-year-old victim, Haywood stopped at an ATM to withdraw cash. The ATM stop helped police track Haywood?s financial records and catch him on surveillance video on the night in question.

Haywood is facing rape and impersonating a police officer charges. Police say he is a person of interest in two similar attacks.
