Cottage School teen accused of raping female student

A 15-year-old resident at the Pleasantville Cottage School is charged with raping a female student.

According to police, Louis Flores attacked and raped an 18-year-old around 7:45 p.m. Thursday on school grounds. Police say they believe Flores threatened the female with a lighter saying he would set her on fire or burn her if she did not cooperate with his demands. Police say they were notified immediately about the alleged assault and the school is cooperating in the investigation.

Four months ago, a 12-year-old was charged with sodomizing another 12-year-old at the school. In that case, the accused was charged with juvenile delinquency.

The coed residential treatment center cares for 200 emotionally troubled kids. School officials issued a statement saying they are distressed about the alleged assault and their first concern is for the safety of the children, staff and community.Flores was arraigned in Mount Pleasant Town Court Friday and is being charged as an adult.
