Cops seize 250 lbs. of pot in apparent stash house

Police in Yonkers say the arrest of two men with marijuana in their car led officers to 250 additional pounds of pot in a stash house.
Police on surveillance stopped 18-year-old Richard Quinones, of the Bronx, and 51-year-old Gerardo Abreu, of New York City, in a Volkswagon Tuesday. They say they found the drugs in the back seat in clear plastic bags. Yonkers and county narcotics officers then went to an apartment on Midland Avenue where they say they found more than 250 pounds of marijuana.
According to police, the two men had just taken the drugs from the apartment a short time before they were captured. They say the apartment was being used to warehouse the drugs, which has an estimated street value of $500,000.
Detectives say last year Abreu was arrested in the same car in New York City with 300 pounds of marijuana in the car. The two men are charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana. The suspects are being held at the county jail and face up to five and a half years behind bars.
