Heavy rains spark traffic troubles in Westchester

Heavy rains caused traffic tie-ups across Westchester County Wednesday.

Flooding on the Hutchinson River Parkway prompted closures near the Mount Vernon-Pelham border. A long line of commuters were detoured off the parkway. While drivers said they are familiar with parkways closing due to flooding, they said they hoped the problem would be fixed.

There was a report that lightning struck Mount Vernon City Hall. Thunderstorms also caused power outages to thousands in the county. Click here for the latest weather information from News 12 Westchester.
