Rains create commuting nightmare in Westchester
A fast-moving storm created a commuting nightmare for people in Westchester Wednesday.Heavy rain fell in just a few hours, causing massive flooding on roadways. There were major delays on the Saw Mill River Parkway and the Hutchinson Parkway. A part of the Bronx River Parkway was closed in Mount Vernon and drivers were diverted onto other roads.
Flooding in the Bronx caused long delays on the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines of the Metro-North trains. Many riders were stranded on platforms waiting for trains that never came. A spokesperson for the Metro-North says as of noon, all trains were running on or close to schedule.
