August melee lands off-duty cop in jail
An off-duty Mount Vernon police officer was arrested Thursday for allegedly attacking his neighbor.
Officer Brent Gamble was put on modified duty after assault charges were filed for an August 12 incident between the cop and his neighbor, Daryl McCoy. Gamble was released on $1,000 bail and must appear in court again in two weeks.
According to police, McCoy cursed at the off-duty cop?s daughter and was repaid for his words with a punch in the face from the officer.
Family members say the feud has been ongoing and each man blames the other for instigating fights over the years. Police say McCoy?s rap sheet is long and is full of harassment and assault complaints.
Both men have filed orders of protection against the other. McCoy remains in a Westchester jail without bail.
