Yonkers SWAT team converges on suspected burglar

A man's curious behavior around children eventually led to his arrest on felony burglary charges Friday, Yonkers police said.

Greenvale Avenue residents called 911 after witnessing 30-year-old Thomas Germano approach their children and behave erratically, police said. Witnesses saw Germano ride up on a motorcycle, which police said was later discovered to be stolen.

After arriving on the scene, the SWAT team approached the home witnesses said Germano entered through a window. Police blocked off the street and threatened the suspect with K-9 dogs before he surrendered without a struggle, officials said.

Authorities said they have not yet been able to contact the homeowners and do not know whether or why the house was targeted.

Germano is being held in Yonkers City Jail and will be charged with felony burglary.
