Governor in Yonkers to spread pre-k for all message
Governor Eliot Spitzer was in Yonkers Monday to promote the importance of universal pre-k programs.
Spitzer visited the DiChiaro School to discuss how learning in pre-k spells success. "Our children are competing in a tougher environment every week, every year," said Spitzer. "If we don't give them the skills they need, the jobs won't be here. If the jobs aren't here then we won't bring back NY."
To show his commitment to learning, the governor has increased funding for pre-k by 50 percent. The Yonkers school superintendent is optimistic the yearly battles fighting for more state aid are coming to an end.
