Mt. Vernon mayor loses Democratic line
Mount Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis apparently lost a close race for the Democratic nomination to challenger and county Legis. Clinton Young Jr. Tuesday.
Young, the vice-chair of the Legislature and the first African-American in Westchester to hold the majority leader position, received approximately 52 percent of the vote.
"This has been a tremendous victory not for Clinton Young, but for the City of Mount Vernon," Young said.
Losing the Democratic nomination marks an end to 12 years in office for Davis, a three-term mayor. Davis previously served on the County Board for six years.
