Drivers try to save motorcyclist in Yonkers crash
A man was killed in a single-motorcycle crash in Yonkers Sunday, despite drivers' efforts to save the victim on the Cross County Parkway.
Police say 33-year-old Hector Rivera, of the Bronx, lost control of his motorcycle around 8:30 a.m. and slammed into a guardrail east of Yonkers Avenue. Officials believe he may have been speeding or the sunlight could have distracted him.
Witnesses say motorists tried to give the victim CPR. However, Rivera, whose body was found 300 feet away from his motorcycle without his helmet, died at the scene of chest and head injuries.
The accident caused traffic to be diverted for several hours. Both lanes of traffic were back open by the evening.
