Noel winds knock out power, prompt flood advisory

The remnants of Hurricane Noel blew through the Hudson Valley and Westchester Saturday leaving scattered power outages and fears of possible floods.

Winds whipped at about 30 mph at the height of the wicked weather and a coastal flood advisory was in effect for southern Westchester County.

Though the effects of the storm subsided by Saturday night, nearly 200 homes in the area were in the dark as a result of power outages.

Winds knocked down a wire in Rye Brook, which left 183 Con Edison customers in Westchester and the Bronx without power.

Con Ed crews were on the scene and were able to restore power to some in Rye Brook by 9 p.m.

A small number of outages were also reported in Yorktown.
