Dozens homeless after suspicious Yonkers fire
A suspicious fire in a Yonkers apartment building left dozens without a home Monday. The fire at 94 Saint Andrew's Pl., near Riverdale Avenue, broke out around 12:30 p.m., police said. Investigators believe somebody started the fire by lighting some garbage in the third-floor hallway. A liquid accelerant was used to start the blaze, they said.
Residents fled their homes after smoke filled the hallway. No residents were injured, although one firefighter was treated for minor injuries. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
