Whipping winds replaced earlier sleet and snow late Monday across Westchester and the Hudson Valley.
In some areas the winds topped out at 50 mph, making it feel much colder. Scattered power outages were reported and commuters were urged to use caution.
?The winds are incredible,? Josette Varela, who spent Monday shopping in the area, said. ?I couldn't believe the winds are blowing all over the place. We're running after garbage pail covers, everybody was holding on to their hats.?
Street signs, traffic lights and trees swayed and residents made sure to secure their outdoor Christmas decorations.
