Internet Iona Prep shooting threat leads to arrest

Parents of Iona Prep students received letters Tuesday about an Internet hoax that sparked heightened security.

Police say someone in the Netherlands called the New Rochelle Police Department after discovering a school shooting threat online about the New Rochelle school. Police then questioned a 14-year-old Iona student whose name was signed to the threat.

However, officials soon discovered the boy played no role in the incident. Police traced the IP address on the threat to another 14-year-old boy at rival Fordham Prep. The Larchmont boy was later arrested and charged with aggravated harassment.
