Bronx man dies after jump off Tappan Zee Bridge
A Bronx man died after jumping off the Tappan Zee Bridge Thursday morning.
Police say the 44-year-old abruptly pulled his Jeep Liberty over to the right side of the span on the northbound side of the bridge, almost collided with a tractor trailer, got out and jumped. The incident happened before 9 a.m.
Police say witnesses told them it all happened so quickly no one had time to try and help.
Rescue boats from Tarrytown, Nyack and Piermont responded to the scene and were able to pull the man out of the Hudson River.
Authorities say the man was taken to Westchester Medical Center, where he later died.
