Construction worker falls to his death in Pelham Manor

A construction worker fell 25 feet and died Thursday while working on a new Home Depot in Pelham Manor.
Pelham Manor police say 48-year-old George Leake, of Queens, lost his footing and fell to the concrete floor. They say it was his first day on the job.
Family members say Leake had been in the construction business nearly 25 years and loved what he did. They say he had been looking forward to working at the Pelham Home Depot. Leake was a father of four.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be investigating.
Calls to the New Jersey-based Leading Edge Contracting Company, which employed the victim, were not returned.
