FBI probes allegations against Sleepy Hollow P.D.

The FBI has launched an investigation into the Sleepy Hollow Police Department after two high-profile cases involving officers using stun guns emerged.

The bureau is looking at the entire department to make sure officers are not using excessive force.

One of the incidents they are looking at happened in August. Police video given to News 12 shows 16-year-old Duanny Lara Mota being Tasered after he and others were allegedly riding their bikes on the sidewalk. When asked to stop, the teens ran and two officers zapped Mota with a Taser.

An October 2006 incident involves one of the same officers. Det. Jose Quinoy allegedly attacked a Tarrytown couple during an argument over whether he was romantically involved with their daughter.

Police Chief Jimmy Warren told News 12 by phone, ?Our police department is not overly aggressive. The Taser is not a violent piece of equipment.?

Sleepy Hollow Mayor Phillip Zegarelli says he looks forward to an outcome of the investigation.

Moda?s attorney says he has no confidence in the FBI to police the police and that the family is planning to sue the village for violating Duanny?s rights.
