Emotions run high at hearing for teen murder suspect
Emotions and tensions were high in a Peekskill courtroom Thursday at a hearing for the teen accused of killing her boyfriend.
Members of 16-year-old Latonya Fisher?s family were yelling at each other outside Peekskill City Court. Fisher is charged with fatally stabbing 17-year-old Justin Woodward, of Montrose.
?It has been very, very rough on the family,? Fisher?s aunt, Beverly Iton-Carter, said.
Authorities believe Fisher stabbed Woodward in the back with a kitchen knife last week when he told her their relationship was over. Investigators are now looking into why it took Fisher almost an hour to call for help.
Fisher was arraigned and charged with second-degree manslaughter. She is being held at Westchester County Jail on $100,000 bail. She is due back in court Monday.
A wake and memorial service for Woodward was held Thursday at the Joseph Nardone Funeral Home in Peekskill.
