Westchester, Hudson Valley prep for winter snow blast

Westchester and Hudson Valley residents spent Sunday preparing for a winter blast after being spoiled by several days of unseasonably warm winter weather.
A heavy snow warning is in effect from 9 p.m. Sunday to 11 a.m. Monday. Forecasters are predicting up to 8 inches of snowfall in some areas. Drivers can expect a messy Monday morning commute.
Shoppers at Stew Leonard's in Yonkers and at a White Plains TrueValue hardware store stocked up on shovels, deicer and other supplies during the calm before the storm.
"I just want to make sure I don't have to go out in the storm," said Tanya Hunt, of Irvington. "I've got two little kids so I don't want to have to get them out in the car and go out."
