Wind chill plunges temps into the single digits
The wind chill plunged temperatures into the single digits Sunday night in Yonkers and across the county.
Despite the cold weather, many residents bundled up to get their errands done.
?Bundling up. Putting on extra things and staying warm,? Richard Clark, of Yonkers, says of being outdoors in the cold.
Meanwhile, Keith Little, of the Sharing Community homeless shelter, says the arctic conditions can be downright dangerous.
?The homeless sleep on the street and people can die right on the streets,? Little says. ?People can die. They freeze to death.?
Experts say people should stay indoors in the cold. However, if they do head out, they should wear layers and cover their extremities.
