Drugs and alcohol blamed for teen's hospital visit
Police say a teenage girl landed in the hospital after getting drunk and high at a party over the weekend.
Witnesses at a sweet 16 celebration say two teen girls got out of a car drunk and high on drugs. They say the adult driving the teens drove off when one of the teens stumbled to the ground. The owner of the White Plains restaurant where the celebration was held shut the party down after the incident.
Police believe the drinking started at another party in an Oxford Lane home in Greenburgh. They say the teen that was sent to the hospital had alcohol poisoning.
County officials say they are trying to curb teen drinking. County Executive Andy Spano commends the restaurant owner for shutting the party down.
Meanwhile, school nurses at more than a dozen districts got specialized training Wednesday on spotting binge drinkers and drug users.
